Description
Richard Wenning, former associate commissioner at the Colorado Department of Education and a creator of the Colorado Growth Model, which has become a model for many states, conducted a webinar for authorizers on the use of growth data to assess school performance. Wenning’s discussion, “Using Student Growth to Evaluate School Performance,” offered authorizers an overview of growth models and their importance in school evaluation across the country. Most important, this presentation covered practical steps authorizers can take to analyze student growth rigorously as part of renewal and revocation decision making and develop their own growth models, regardless of any limitations in their state’s assessments or accountability system.
