Deciding whether to renew a school’s charter is one of an authorizer's most important and most difficult responsibilities. Whether you have only one school up for renewal or ten, NACSA can help. This course introduces authorizers to the elements of a strong renewal process and offers practical advice for developing and implementing a strong renewal process that is transparent and rigorous and uses comprehensive academic, financial, and operational performance data to make merit-based decisions.
It provides authorizers with practical strategies for streamlining the renewal application to minimize paper and inefficiency and for organizing the renewal timeline to communicate expectations to schools effectively and ensure that decisions are made as early in the school year as possible so that families have time to make new plans in the event that a school’s charter is not renewed. Included with the course is the NACSA Core Renewal Application and Guidance, a uniform renewal application template that authorizers can modify to meet their local needs and context.
